Pivot was commissioned by National Heritage Board of Singapore as a collection of artworks for the Patron of Heritage Awards 2016. Based on Still Ware’s Restless collection, this collection comprised of five different awards for different tier patrons.
Pivot evokes the spirit of Singapore as an ever-evolving nation on the move. The objects embody a sense of motion — at times unpredictable, but always focused around a defined point of revolution. The fulcrum represents the shared heritage and cultural understanding around which much of this nation has been built. The gentle, revolving motion of these objects connects the past, present, and future, a visual metaphor that represents the people’s shared experiences as they come full circle.
